Piso’s Cure for Consumption

In recent weeks I have been living, figuratively, with the Victorians. The Bronte’s in particular, are filling many hours, as are the repeated references to consumption and wasting. The inspiration of this post is a particularly bad bout of asthma, which, I automatically diagnosed as consumption, sure that death was imminent. An  article  from The Guardian indicates a fear not completely unfounded.
